« Review Roundup: Trey Songz – ‘Chapter V’New Music: Game f/ Chris Brown, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, & Lil Wayne – ‘Celebration’ »2 Chainz Tops Charts with ‘T.R.U. Story’![]() Yes, it’s truuu. 2 Chainz has the No. 1 album in the country with Based on a T.R.U. Story.
The Atlanta rapper’s solo debut enters atop the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts with 147,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The Def Jam project features the Drake-assisted single “No Lie” and “Birthday Song” with Kanye West, plus collaborations with Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Chris Brown, and The-Dream. According to Billboard, 2 Chainz is the third act this year to score a No. 1 album with his debut, following One Direction’s Up All Night and Jack White’s Blunderbuss. The last rapper to accomplish this was Mac Miller, whose debut Blue Slide Park topped the charts in November 2011 with 144,000 copies. It marks the first No. 1 album for 2 Chainz, who previously released two albums with Playaz Circle. Both failed to enter the top 20 on the Billboard 200. 2 Chainz took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support. “Thank each and. Every one of you that helped me have the NUMBER 1 album n kuntry,” he tweeted. On the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, 2 Chainz also holds down the No. 1 spot for a second week with “No Lie.” TweetYou can leave a response, or trackback from your own site. 31 CommentsLeave a Reply

@Jada, How do you know that this person isn’t “winning?” You’re on the Internet, on a blog. You don’t have to be a hip-hop artist to be “winning” in some aspect of your life.

@SaucyMcBlast, I’m loser because I don’t like 2 Chainz music, haha ok. I never said I was a millionaire. I only said to express that you have no clue whats going on with me. I’m 19, with a decent job and attend MICA(3rd best art school in the country) studying Graphic Design, and have just joined a band. So to me it sounds like I am “winning” in my life. I rarely post negative comments on this site. I only tell the truth on what artist are doing a great job in the music, and what artist aren’t doing a good job. And I feel like its a big slap in the face that someone like 2 Chainz who has no musical talent can make money in music when there are musicians who work their butts off to put out quality music. That gives me a right to hate on him

Before anyone jumps on me. I know that 2 Chainz music isn’t meant to be the most lyrical music in the world. Its just the kind of music that people get off to in the car. I just feel as though he gives none of his beats justice, and the lyrics aren’t even decent

Congrats to him! I wish people would stop putting him down. Sure he’s not an artist who will be known for their lyricism, but he makes fun party music just like Waka Flocka. Take it for what it is…
