The R&B songbird is channeling Hollywood screen legend Audrey Hepburn with her upcoming mixtape.
The “audiovisual presentation” entitled Audrey Hepburn: The Mixtape will include new music and videos, she announced on Twitter. “The name of my Audiovisual Presentation is called Audrey Hepburn THEMIXTAPE,” tweeted Chrisette. “This journey is a special expression of my truest creativity.” She’s been doing her research in preparation for the release. “I’m going 2 show you how inspired I truly am by a lady I really adore. I’m taking a trip thru parts of Europe to visit places she frequented.” This is not the first time she has released a mixtape. In 2010, she and her brother Lem Payne teamed up on the free project Love Thy Brother. Additionally, Chrisette has been working on Better, the follow-up to her 2010 album Let Freedom Reign. What a shame, channeling a white woman when you have other BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN who was catching hell just to be (Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, ect…)
Sad.

@vitty, Listen here Ms. Advocate for World Peace. In a perfect world, it would be cool if race wasn’t an issue. Turn on the news. It MATTERS. Far from racist, I just think it’s a bit shameful. Represent those roots that fought hard to be planted!

@Joseph Vryheid,
What’s sad is your injecting race into this discussion about a mixtape.

@Leaveit2m3, Don’t you act as if my approach wasn’t logical. I don’t give a damn if it was Halloween. I’m giving my OPINION.

@Joseph Vryheid, You are so stupid. Audrey Hepburn was a SAINT. That woman did more for people of the African continent than you will do in your entire, SAD life!

@Morgan, You hoes are delirious. I’m sure if your dead ancestors could come back to life, they’d smack the hell out of all of you.

@Joseph Vryheid,
In other words, you are completely clueless about the work Audrey Hepburn, in her role as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, helped the people of Ethiopia and other African nations. What have you done for them?

@Leaveit2m3, Your justifying is clearly to shot me down. I obviously don’t have the benefits of traveling the world and helping everyone in need, dumbass. If I could I would… This is not about me here, it’s about Chrisette.

@Joseph Vryheid, Just ignore these ignorant and deluded people! They hope and dream to live in a world we’re all races are equal! They turn a blind eye to the things of the world! Lets see if a White musician would channel a black singer/actor like Lena Horne! They’d never!

@Joseph Vryheid, Dude u said a mouthful with that statement. I have to say I am wondering what this really means for Chrisette Michele. I understand that Hepburn did her part, but the reality of this is, how many black people, at that time, had the opportunities to do the things that Hepburn did. It’s very interesting. I can’t see it. But I guess we will have to wait and see just what this thing is… I mean is this about appealing to a pop market or what?

@djrj, Like you said, we’ll see but I can promise you that you’ll NEVER see Katy Perry channeling Aretha Franklin!

@Joseph Vryheid, Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful. You sound as if Audrey Hepburn left you at the altar or something. Don’t speak ill of a deceased woman you never knew. On top of being uncouth, it’s indicative of a clear lack of intelligence. Why are you so up in arms about Chrisette Michelle channeling her, anyway? As long as she doesn’t abandon her R&B roots, who is this really hurting? You need to open your eyes to the world around you and be more open. All white people are not racists or out to keep you down. And like the others above me have said, Audrey Hepburn damn sure wasn’t.

To be inspired by someone should have absolutely nothing to do with race. We have a black president does that mean a asian kid cant be inspired by him. C’mon grow up and grow out of that mindset

Chrisette Michele is one of most underrated artists of this generation!! She makes absolutely amazing music and she’s gorgeous on the inside and definitely the outside! So she’s far from a bitch, you must be jealous or have low self esteem to speak on something you know nothing about!!! Chrisette fan all day!

How can an album be inspired by an actress!?
Audrey was not a singer!
Dear PR team,
Can we translate her words into something that makes sense?
People are lost in gimmicks these days…WTF is a mixtape inspired by whoever?

@Fa, am album can literally be inspired by anything, artists do it all the time. She decided on this specific individual. It’s going to be cool either way, you don’t have to listen to it. So chill out, she’s not waisting anything at all.
