« Missy Elliott Weighs In on Lil’ Kim-Nicki Minaj FeudKendrick Lamar Brings Out Drake in Toronto [Video] »Kanye West Breaks Down ‘Cruel Summer’ [Video]![]() While Big Sean, Pusha T, Common, and Teyana Taylor have been making the press rounds to promote Cruel Summer, G.O.O.D. Music chief Kanye West has shied away from interviews. But he’s finally speaking about the project in a video posted on his YouTube channel. Yeezy explained how the compilation came together and what it was like to work with so many different people. “We take it really serious that we make the best product we can, but also we’re light with it too,” said ‘Ye. “We just wanna have fun and commune and festivalize—I’m not sure if that’s currently a word but it will be afterwards.” The album aims to capture the current moment. “This isn’t the beginning of the conversation, this isn’t the end of the conversation. It’s our offering as a collective of a sonic snapshot of what’s happening right now, 2012.”

LOL… Pusha T must tryin’ to get some attention. Anyway I expected much better from Yeezy, Sean, and Chainz, The rest I already knew they would mess up.

@Pereezy YMCMB-MMG, I don’t know where to begin. You knew the rest of GOOD music would “mess up”? Ok. If it wasn’t already, your opinion is officially irrelevant.

Not gonna lie…….this album coulda been better as far as reaching that “Kanye level” goes. Either way, you just watched the greatest musician of our generation talk it up. Respect.

Why mention Mr. Hudson and Q-Tip? I know there apart of the group but they weren’t apart of this collective outlet, and that’s kinda odd.
I’m sure Mr. Hudson could have easily fitted The Morning and Q on Sin City. They’d fit perfectly.
But the highlight of the album to me is Bliss. The production is crisp-perfect, John Legend and Teyana Taylor voices are perfect together.

I believe GOOD Music-Cruel Summer Album is a good album, but the album had the potential to be a great, classic hip hop masterpiece and it failed to live up to high expectations. I respect Kanye West for bringing all these different music artists together, but this album has some flaws. I feel like there should had been more guest appearances by Common outside his 1 guest appearance. Mos Def and Q-Tip should had been on the album. It was surprising to me that Mr. Hudson and Frank Ocean wasn’t on the album. The pushbacks and delays may have hurt the album because they try to finish the album at the last minute. Hopefully, Kanye West’s 6th solo album is just as great as My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

At first I thought this album was trash, however gave it a few listening’s over and you hear the lyrics that this is group is saying its pure magic. This album has created me a Big Sean fan,he crafts his lyrics well.

i love this dude and i love the album. i guarantee if so many songs weren’t released and people were able to listen to it as a collective whole without acknowledging the songs that were previously dropped…people may feel differently about it.

by no means is the album Bad. Its just disappointing. only 12 tracks. we already heard 5. And the quality wasn’t up to match with the group’s talent

They took a big loss by releasing the album a day late on itunes, Pink gon outsell them wtf. had they released it on time this would’ve pushed about double what they going to sell. anyway was dissapointed the album had 5 songs we already heard, takes away from the surprise element and two of the songs should’ve been just bonus tracks: Dont like; Too Cold

A majority of the critics base their opinions on the same tired A** formula. Production first, lyrics second. Most people wouldn’t know what G.O.O.D music was if it slapped them in the face because we’ve excepted ‘status-quo’ (the bull sh*t) you currently favor in rotation @ your local radio stations. Production is everything that the cookie cutters can’t do. Lyricism is far better than recent offerings based on the same subject matter. As a whole Cruel Summer is better than everything from rival camps (excluding some MMG material).
Why? Because it has DIRECTION & an actual CONCEPT. Further more you can’t take Kanyes vision and artistry and apply it to everyone else from the camp. Therefore it won’t & shouldn’t sound like his solo albums cause it’s a “collective” project.

@BlkInk, yeah people are comparing this collective project to Kanyes solo projects which isn’t really fair for the album. So any flaws are magnified and highlighted because the labels head-honco(kanye) has put out such Gems that this almost had to be the greatest album ever or else it would be torn to shreds. but there are a few dissapointments on this album though.

I think only true Fans of Kanye from CD to MBDTF should be able to speak about this album. It hands down is his least best album. However, its not our fault for being disappointed by this album. We have only been given greatness so why the hell should we accept this mediocre album.
1.Only 12 tracks were given to us.
2.We’ve heard 5 of them and played the hell out of them all ready.
3.No option for a deluxe edition
4.The U.S. (the place u were born Kanye) had to wait a day and a half for the damn UK to get first listen
5. Common got one verse
6. 2 Chainz got 3
7. Where the hell is Yasiin Bey,Q-Tip, and Mr. Hudson(f a writing credit)
8. And NO MOVIE.
Yall can say just be happy with what he gave us but with Kanye AS A FAN WE’VE NEVER HAD TO SETTLE so im not starting now. I’ll b a Kanye Fan to the death of me, and even though I was disappointed I bought the album. Me a broke college student spent my 10.07 on a CD. I did it because I beleive in u Kanye, but on some real talk u let me down.

I personally liked the album, it’s definitely not Kanye’s best but I appreciated the overall sonic variety he gave us. The only song I wish wasn’t included was Don’t Like. Give the album time and I’m sure all the songs will grow on you.
I can’t understand why people say its garbage? Far from it. The only thing I can agree with people is that it is a dissapointment because this album could’ve been way more than what it is. But that doesn’t mean what you have is bad.

Its better than other rap collective albums, i dont know why people keep hating on it. The quality of music on the album is too good to be on a mixtape, so whoever says that is dumb as fuck. Its not a great album, but its not garbage either..
