Christmas comes early for Frank Ocean fans. On Saturday night, the six-time Grammy nominee shared a new song called “Wise Man,” which was recorded for the Django Unchained soundtrack. While it’s unknown why it didn’t make the cut, Frank decided to liberate the track on his Tumblr page.
“django was ill without it,” said Ocean, who also posted the lyrics.
Listen to his words of wisdom.

“Frank Ocean wrote a fantastic ballad that was truly lovely and poetic in every way, there just wasn’t a scene for it,” Tarantino said. “I could have thrown it in quickly just to have it, but that’s not why he wrote it and not his intention. So I didn’t want to cheapen his effort. But, the song is fantastic, and when Frank decides to unleash it on the public, they’ll realize it then.”

I saw an advance screening of this film and it’s very good, so I hope people really support Django Unchained. Aside from the fact that it’s a spaghetti western, watching it made me better understand Tarantino’s explanation but such a shame that “Wise Man” couldn’t have been part of the soundtrack. This is gold.

I don’t understand how people can listen to the messages behind this guy’s music and say he’s “overrated.” Sorry he’s not a repetitive artist with cliche, played out themes — about club hopping, bottle popping, drugs galore, sex galore, whips, fast life, etc., etc. Sign of the times, smh.

@meme, That was rude and unnecessary. You people kill me focusing on his sexuality but can’t give concrete reasons as to why you dislike him and his music. Typical.

@Issa, No twerking and calling me a bitch wouldnt work either. But i need a little more than complex poetic words to work my interest. Small minded ppl like you are easily persuaded. I guess you like it because you think its “different” lol.

@meme, If you think his music is boring and don’t like this song, that’s fine. But referencing bisexuality was a hit under the belt. Totally irrelevant, dear. That comment is a sign of your intelligence or lack thereof.

@Olympia, how is that comment a sign of lack of intelligence? If you had any sense you would know that his last album got the buzz it did because of him coming out. While his music is great, I don;t think ppl would have been has interested in it had he not come out. Thats is all im saying.

@meme, Oh so wrong. As a long time follower of Frank I can tell you he was really coming into his own in the months before his album and his “coming-out”. His whole letter that got so much publicity was intended to simply be in the album liner, but after people started spreading rumors after they noticed Frank singing “he” in some of the songs at a listening party. It wasn’t a publicity stunt and I guarantee you that his fame has nothing to do with his sexuality. And you went from saying it was a “bore” to saying “his music is great” so make up your mind, if you’re not here to just cause beef. If you don’t like this style of music, then ignore it and go away, but it has much more value than most other current shit. So shut up and stop making comments with no basis.

i think frank has a tendency to over-complicate his lyrics, sometimes you need a decoder to decipher his lyrical intentions

Well. He’s at that point in his career where he can put out anything and it’ll be critically acclaimed. And the fact that he’s gay gives him extra protection from criticism. But if you subtract all the hype, and the name “Frank Ocean” wasn’t attached to this song, it would be average at best. Not worth a replay, for me. $0.02
