Timbaland and Keri Hilson Pen Apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé on 'Sorry'

Timbaland and Keri Hilson

Timbaland and Jay-Z are now on good terms, but it took a while to get there. The Magna Carta… Holy Grail producer opens up about his fallout with the hip-hop superstar and the song he recorded as an apology.

Timbaland previously told Revolt TV that he and Jay-Z did not speak for a while. “Me and Jay fell out,” said Timbo, who claims it was over “petty” and personal stuff unrelated to the industry.

In the second part of his interview, he reveals that he and Keri Hilson have recorded an apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé for his upcoming album.

“I got this one song that I did with Keri on my album called ‘Sorry,’ and Keri actually tells the story about the whole Beyoncé thing and how she was sorry about it because she wasn’t really talking about Beyoncé but other people,” says Timbaland.

Keri was accused of dissing Beyoncé on the remix to her 2009 single “Turnin’ Me On,” but she denied that the song was about Mrs. Carter.

The track sparked controversy for its suggestive lyrics. “Your vision cloudy if you think that you the best/ You can dance, she can sing, but need to move it to the left,” she sings.

Timbo offers his apologies to Mr. Carter on “Sorry.” “In my verse, I’m saying, ‘We cop the same Range, we talk to the same dames, same thangs, same lane. Now we see each other, don’t even speak. That’s fucked up. I missed your 40th and that hurt me so deep. Accept my apology, my apology, ni**a please.'”

He compared the song to something Tupac would have recorded. “The hook says, ‘I think this business make a ni**a do strange thangs…’ All I wanna say, why can’t a ni**a can’t say sorry? Why can’t a ni**a just tell another ni**a sorry? It’s deep.”
