Timbaland and Keri Hilson Pen Apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé on ‘Sorry’

Timbaland and Keri Hilson

Timbaland and Jay-Z are now on good terms, but it took a while to get there. The Magna Carta… Holy Grail producer opens up about his fallout with the hip-hop superstar and the song he recorded as an apology.

Timbaland previously told Revolt TV that he and Jay-Z did not speak for a while. “Me and Jay fell out,” said Timbo, who claims it was over “petty” and personal stuff unrelated to the industry.

In the second part of his interview, he reveals that he and Keri Hilson have recorded an apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé for his upcoming album.

“I got this one song that I did with Keri on my album called ‘Sorry,’ and Keri actually tells the story about the whole Beyoncé thing and how she was sorry about it because she wasn’t really talking about Beyoncé but other people,” says Timbaland.

Keri was accused of dissing Beyoncé on the remix to her 2009 single “Turnin’ Me On,” but she denied that the song was about Mrs. Carter.

The track sparked controversy for its suggestive lyrics. “Your vision cloudy if you think that you the best/ You can dance, she can sing, but need to move it to the left,” she sings.

Timbo offers his apologies to Mr. Carter on “Sorry.” “In my verse, I’m saying, ‘We cop the same Range, we talk to the same dames, same thangs, same lane. Now we see each other, don’t even speak. That’s fucked up. I missed your 40th and that hurt me so deep. Accept my apology, my apology, ni**a please.’”

He compared the song to something Tupac would have recorded. “The hook says, ‘I think this business make a ni**a do strange thangs…’ All I wanna say, why can’t a ni**a can’t say sorry? Why can’t a ni**a just tell another ni**a sorry? It’s deep.”

Watch Timbaland speak about “Sorry” in the interview below.

Idk about the Timb and Jay, but Levi’s story doesn’t add up and I still don’t believe her. Here’s the full lyric: She can sing, she can dance, but need to move it ‘to the left(to the left)’ / She need to go have some babies / She needs to sit down, she fadin’… / Go ‘head and tell them folks how long I been writing your songs / I been puttin you on, just check the credits.”

Keri has never said who the chick is that she was referring to, but I feel as though if you was BOLD enough to come for that person on track, you should be woman enough and fearless enough to say who it is
after all these years. She just happened to put a diss record out when Timb and Jay were beefing? I think not. Keri was doing a red carpet interview. When the reporter pull out a magazine with Beyonce’s pic on it and asked her who it was and Keri replies something to the effect of “Who is that?” or “Idk”. Miss Than thought she was on top of the with because she worked with some big names, but the Beehives were NOT going to stand for that. Keri was blackballed and she felt the blow to her career. So she retracted her story and has been sticking to it for ages. It’s a shame that these two beautiful women can’t put it to rest but you make your bed, you haveo lay in it

Even though I don’t like her music I’ve never bashed her, but I’ve always felt sorry for Keri after that “Turn Me On Remix” came out and she was clearly talking bout Beyoncé and Ciara. I feel it was really Polow Da Don fault for making her do that song.

Yall might say she had sense enough to not do the song but when ur producer is ur boss u really don’t have a choice.

    [Reply]

    SdotB Reply:

@Mr. Fye, what proof do u have that he made her write those lyrics?? Just because the song was put out doesn’t make it his fault…she’s the writer, and she obviously felt that was about “whoever” she was referring to…it’s her fault, no one else’s!

@SdotB, I refer to the December/January 2011 issue of Vibe where she said about the song “I did something I didn’t want to do and didn’t fight”

Like you said she is the writer but still he is the boss and over say all she did. Hell he was yelling over the entire damn song.

Like I said I don’t like her music but I still feel sorry for her.

“Keri actually tells the story about the whole Beyoncé thing and how she was sorry about it because she wasn’t really talking about Beyoncé” If she was talking about BEY then why did she write a song called Sorry about BEY? Why is she going so far about it? and It’s not even because of the song why The HIVE is mad, it’s the things she did and said after the song was released. With the fact that when the song came out she could’ve been put it to rest but no, she ran with it because she thought she had a friend, but it just made it worst.

Really Keri!? An apology record?? Why is this necessary or relevant? That remix came out YEARS ago and Beyonce never even responded or CARED!! Do you really think Beyonce lost sleep because you dissed her on a song? Clearly she sat down and had some babies so she took your advice. Why say sorry? This ain’t Dirty Laundry trick! UGH! She making herself look even more basic!

A FUCKING MESS. BYE Keri, you are 5 years LATE. LMFAO

Keri was a real dumb ass girl for making that remix, it totally RUINED her career. But it is also partly her label’s fault because they were all like, “Beyoncé you better watch out” and shit like that. I mean the fuck you doing? Did they REALLY thought Keri was better than Beyoncé? I mean we are talking about
B E Y O N C É, were the forreal? I swear they were dumb as fuck for making her do that. But Keri should have just left it at that but NO. Throwing weak ass shade every time the name Beyoncé came during her interview. Like we know you are sick of being asked about it but it is partly your OWN fault. And now she is basically admitting that she was talking about Beyoncé. Oh and Keri should just STOP RIGHT NOW. Her last singles were rejected by the public, she TRIED to sell her album by releasing a music video for The Way You Love Me which was a desperate attempt to cause controversy and that shit didn’t work because her album was rejected by the public.

No. She had ger baby & continues to slay. If anyone should apologize it should be the ppl who kept this goin over the yrs. It shows how mature ppl really are which says a lot. Ppl make diss songs all the time. & whether u wanna admit it or not just like Bow Down the Turnin Me On diss mix is hot. So if anybody is sad & pathetic in this its the ppl who kept this goin.
