Katy Perry Performs ‘Roar’ at VMAs

Katy Perry

Katy Perry closed out the VMAs with a knock-out performance. The pop star set up a boxing ring under the Brooklyn Bridge while performing her empowering single “Roar.” She and her dancers stayed on their toes during the energetic set, which ended with her winning the championship belt.

She also announced that Juicy J will appear on “Darkhorse,” a new song set to drop on September 17. Her album Prism will follow on October 22.

Watch her pack a punch on stage.

I am not hating at all .. it wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t worth the hype, worth the ending segment, or quite honestly any praise.

I was pretty excited because I do like the song (as generic and predictable as it is) and I do like Katy but wow .. they’ve had EPIC openings and EPIC closings before .. I felt as though both Katy AND Gaga could have fit in with being any other time during the show. Neither broke any new ground.

Wheres Beyoncé and old school Britney at?

@Bobby, You nailed it 100% about her and Gaga. or even as shaky as Rihanna’s vocals can be, she would put on a better set than this.

The best part of this performance was the fact that the Brooklyn Bridge was in the background. That was beautiful! Not hating on Katy at all because I actually like her, but her performances usually never live up to the hype. A better way to close out the show would’ve been if Jay-Z performed because it’s his hometown and it would of been epically symbolic.

Unfortunately, the performance was pretty basic, not bad, just basic. Great record and “DarkHorse” sounds even better.

Its nice to see Rap-Up actually post her performance after she demolished shady ass Gaga on the charts, outselling her single by more than 2 to 1.
