New Music: Maxwell - 'Gods'
Maxwell continues to heat things up with another sizzling single off blackSUMMERS’night.
After unleashing “Lake by the Ocean” and “1990x,” he debuts “Gods.” “You lie so convincingly,” he croons on the smooth song. “You swore so convincingly / You play the game of gods.”
Earlier today, Maxwell spoke about his long-awaited album, which is due July 1, in an interview with Bay Area radio station KMEL. “Hopefully you guys will enjoy it,” he said. ” We put a lot of love. There’s real life in there. There’s real experience and real musicianship so I hope you enjoy it.”
On Sunday (Jun. 26), Maxwell will pay tribute to Prince at the BET Awards, something he also touched on during the Q&A. “It’s a loss,” he said of the icon’s passing. “It still hits me sometimes.”
