Wale Signs with Warner Bros. Records

  /  05.16.2018

Wale is no longer a free agent. The D.C. rapper has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Records.

It marks a return home for Wale, who released his 2011 album Ambition on Warner via Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group. His most recent albums, Shine (2017), The Album About Nothing (2015), and The Gifted (2013), were released via MMG/Atlantic Records. He remains signed to MMG and his own imprint, Every Blue Moon.

“I am delighted that Wale has joined Warner Bros. Records,” said Tom Corson, Co-Chairman & COO, Warner Bros. Records. “He is a pillar in the hip-hop community and beyond; with his cultural relevance and lyrical prose, he continues to elevate the game. Wale is truly a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”

“This is an exciting step for me. I am thrilled to be at a company that is willing to showcase my artistry, while supporting my entrepreneurial spirit,” said Wale. “I felt their passion, commitment, and enthusiasm from day one. They believed in my vision whole heartedly, and I am ready to show and prove.”

Wale celebrated the announcement with his new single “Black Bonnie” featuring Jacquees. The song can be found on his EP It’s Complicated, which dropped in March. Just last week, he released his 3-song EP Self Promotion.

He is now working on his sixth full-length album, set for release later this year on Warner.
