M.I.A. at Coachella

M.I.A.’s new album doesn’t even have a title yet, but it’s already experienced its first pushback.

Fans who have been patiently waiting for the “Paper Planes” singer’s third effort won’t have to wait too much longer. A one-week delay will move the project from June 29 to July 6, staging-rapup.kinsta.cloud has learned. Albums from Kelis, N.E.R.D., and Big Boi are set to arrive on shelves the same week.

Just last month, a blimp took to the sky during Jay-Z’s set at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival to reveal M.I.A.’s original album release date and headlining gigs at the HARD Summer Music Festival in Los Angeles and New York in July.

The outspoken artist stirred controversy with the viral video for “Born Free,” which was banned from YouTube for its graphic nature. A radio-ready single “XXXO” is set to hit iTunes on May 11 and Hype Williams has been tapped to direct the music video. Check out the artwork for the electro-pop song here.
