The wait is over. After several delays, Chris Brown has announced a release date for his long-awaited sixth album X.

The follow-up to 2012’s Fortune will arrive on May 5, which coincides with Brown’s 25th birthday.

X is by far my best album yet…. Setting the date for MAY 5,” tweeted Breezy.

The album has spawned the singles “Fine China,” the Aaliyah-assisted “Don’t Think They Know,” “Love More” with Nicki Minaj, and “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne, French Montana, and Too $hort.

He has also collaborated with Kendrick Lamar (“Autumn Leaves”), Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Wiz Khalifa, and B.o.B., as well as producers Timbaland, Diplo, Polow Da Don, Danja, Pharrell, and Drumma Boy.

“I tried to stay away from the Euro beats, and not go totally pop,” he told Rolling Stone last year. “Instead, I wanted to take the Quincy Jones approach. The record pays homage to the Stevie Wonders, the Michael Jacksons, the Sam Cookes. I wanted to put that classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now.”

In addition to X, Chris and Tyga are working on their collaborative album Fan of a Fan 2, which is also expected to drop this summer.
