Kelis Serves Up Jerk Ribs at SXSW Food Truck
Kelis brought her musical and culinary talents to SXSW in Austin, Texas. To promote her upcoming album Food, due April 22, the singer-turned-Le Cordon Bleu chef decked out her own food truck and served free gourmet meals on Thursday and Friday.
The saucier, who stars in her own special on the Cooking Channel, prepared a delicious menu of duck confit sliders, shredded beef with wild cherry BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and jerk ribs in honor of her single (Unfortunately, there were no milkshakes to wash it down).
Fans lined up around the block to get a taste of the jerk ribs that according to Kelis, “literally fall off the bone.”
She earned rave reviews for her food. “Honestly, best rib I’ve eaten. Sorry mom,” wrote one happy customer after trying her ribs.
While in Austin, Kelis also performed some of her tasty new cuts at several showcases including NPR Music.
