Ed Sheeran Covers Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me'

Following the duet version with Mary J. Blige, Ed Sheeran gives Sam Smith’s soulful ballad the cover treatment for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. The British crooner stayed true to the original with his stripped-down remake, but still made it his own.

It was enough to earn praise from Smith himself. “YES @edsheeran !! You just smashed Stay With Me in the love lounge bro!!” he tweeted.

Sheeran responded, “ah man 🙂 thank YOU for making it, it’s a stunner of a song.”

Ed’s sophomore album x arrives June 23 featuring the Pharrell-produced single “Sing,” plus production from Rick Rubin, Jeff Bhasker, and Benny Blanco.
