Kanye West Performs on 'SNL'
Live from New York, it’s Kanye West. On the eve of the release of his new album The Life of Pablo, Yeezus returned to “Saturday Night Live” for his seventh appearance as musical guest, and he brought along a slew of special guests.
Following an introduction from host Melissa McCarthy, he debuted “Highlights” alongside a star-studded cast including Young Thug, El DeBarge, Kelly Price, The-Dream, and A$AP Bari. Against a giant LED screen with pixelated clouds, the Yeezy-clad crew performed the gospel-infused song for the first time. You could tell it was live because the censors missed Kanye dropping the N-word.
For his second performance, Kanye was joined by Kirk Franklin, The-Dream, Kelly Price, and Chance the Rapper (in his second appearance this season) for the live debut of “Ultralight Beam.” He ended it by announcing that TLOP is now available on KanyeWest.com and streaming on TIDAL.
Pablo‘s release comes after a series of delays. After debuting the album live at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, Kanye went back in the lab and added some songs. In a series of tweets, he also blamed Chance the Rapper for the hold-up. According to ‘Ye, Chance wanted him to add the Chris Brown-assisted “Waves” to the tracklisting, which he did.
