Jimmy Fallon & The Roots Remake LL Cool J's 'Going Back to Cali'

  /  02.16.2016

Jimmy Fallon and The Roots are “Going Back to Cali.” To celebrate “The Tonight Show’s” week-long return to the West Coast, the program remade LL Cool J’s Walking with a Panther classic.

“I’m going back to Cali, hostin’, West Coastin’, laughin’, and takin’ the show on the road,” Fallon rhymes in the vid. “I’m back in town on the L.A. scene and this week is going to get crazy.”

The visual takes cues from LL’s original video, which was also filmed in black-and-white. Fresh off his hosting gig at the Grammys, the “NCIS: Los Angeles” star makes a cameo sporting his trademark style from the late ’80s, Kangol hat and all.

Since 1972, “The Tonight Show” was mostly shot in Burbank, Calif. under its former hosts Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. The series, which started in the 1950s, has also been filmed in Chicago and New York, where Fallon resides.
