Bruno Mars & The Time Honor Prince at the Grammys

Prince lives on.

Nearly a year after the iconic singer’s passing, the Recording Academy honored the Purple One with a medley of hits from The Time and Bruno Mars at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 12).

Introduced by James Corden as a “journey back in time to Minneapolis, 1985,” The Time opened up the set with Prince-produced crowd pleasers “Jungle Love” and “The Bird” off the 1984 project Ice Cream Castle.

From there, the lights went out while the iconic intro to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” filled Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Dressed in Prince’s iconic outfit from Purple Rain, Bruno Mars emerged in shiny purple with a white guitar and eyeliner.

Emulating the Purple One’s moves and adding a dash of his own flavor, Bruns danced across the stage while performing the Purple Rain intro with his band and backup singers, rocking out to the pop/funk/rock fusion.

Earlier in the evening, Bruno hit the stage for a smooth performance of his own 24K Magic single “That’s What I Like.”
