Alicia Keys Impersonates Adele & Gwen Stefani on 'Fallon'

  /  03.01.2017

Alicia Keys transformed into Gwen Stefani, Adele, and Janis Joplin during a “Musical Impressions” segment on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Promoting “The Voice,” the Here singer appeared on the late night program’s popular segment, starting with an impression of her “Voice” co-star Gwen Stefani doing “Miss Mary Mack.”

The highlights included Keys’ version of Adele performing “The Alphabet Song” to the tune of “Hello,” providing dramatic qualities to the children’s classic. Later, she sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” but with a Janis Joplin twist.

Alicia also sat down for an interview with Fallon, speaking about her now 6-year-old son, the producer Egypt. “He’s in this age now, where he wants to tell me everybody’s better than me,” she said. “Like, ‘She kind of sings better than you, mommy.'”

Later, she went on to reveal how she sampled Prince’s “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore?” on “How Come You Don’t Call Me” off her 2002 album Songs in A Minor.

“At that time, I didn’t realize you actually had to clear the song to put someone else’s song on your album,” she said. “You have to ask permission, which I now get and I’m so thankful that people ask me for my permission, but I didn’t know you had to ask permission. So, it was this whole big ordeal and I had to call him.”

Season 12 of the “The Voice” kicked off Monday (Feb. 27) but its three-part “Blind Auditions” episode, which continued Tuesday, comes to a close tonight.
