New Music: Machine Gun Kelly feat. Hailee Steinfeld - 'At My Best'
After scoring his first top 5 smash with the Camila Cabello-assisted “Bad Things,” Machine Gun Kelly teams up with singer-actress Hailee Steinfeld on his latest pop-rap collaboration, “At My Best.”
Produced by Benny Blanco and Happy Perez, “At My Best” blends genres while MGK reaches out to his die-hard fanbase. “I wrote this song as a message for help,” he raps. “On behalf of anybody finding they self / I wrote this letter to numb your pain / ‘Cause everyday I wake up, I’m feeling the same.”
Steinfeld adds to that with a message to a potential lover. “If you can’t take me at my worst,” she sings, “you don’t deserve me at my best.”
The song serves as an anthem for underdogs. “This song’s for anybody that feels like I did, never the cool kid,” raps MGK. “This song’s for anybody who fought their way through, always remained true.”
Kellz is currently working on his third studio album, the follow-up to 2015’s General Admission. He can also be seen in Captive State, a forthcoming sci-fi film directed by Rupert Wyatt.
