Video: Maxwell - 'Gods'
Maxwell turns the City of Stars into a city of neon lights in “Gods,” the latest video off the R&B crooner’s 2016 album, blackSUMMERS’night.
From the famed Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, Maxwell begins a journey through the city. As he drives around landmarks, he illuminates L.A. with neon lazers, lighting up everything in his path.
Riding through the night in a sports car, Maxwell reflects on an old lover’s issues. “With your crimes, you convicted me,” he sings, staring out of the car window. “As you swore so convincingly / You played the games of gods.”
In the end, Maxwell sees the entire city from a magnificent view. Its skyline is wrapped in neon lights and even the stars above him have that same pink glow.
Released exclusively via TIDAL, “Gods” follows videos for “1990x” and “Lake By the Ocean” off blackSUMMERS’night.
