New Music: Snoop Dogg feat. Stresmatic - 'Swivel'

  /  05.16.2017

Snoop Dogg and Stresmatic go for a touchdown on “Swivel,” the latest release from Tha Doggfather’s forthcoming album Neva Left.

Over a West Coast bounce, the D-O-Double-G brags about life through football similes, metaphors, and a throwback intro.

“From the depths of the seas, blowing trees in the big leagues,” he raps. “I got a plan, I’m going ham on all you DBs / You better double me up, safety, cover me up / Single coverage won’t work, boy, I’ll burn him up / Give me the damn ball.”

If that intro line sounds familiar, that’s because it’s the same one Snoop used on “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” off his debut album Doggystyle.

Back on “Swivel,” Stresmatic ties the song together with the chorus. “This is not a starter pistol,” he raps. “I got my head on a swivel / If you need me, just whistle / I got my head on a swivel.”

“Swivel” is a cut off Snoop’s next album Neva Left, which is set to feature elements from his entire discography. “Throughout the years, I’ve had my hands in a lot of different projects, but music has always remained at my core,” he recently said of the project. “This album reflects every phase of me throughout my career. I’m excited for ya’ll to hear this new project that highlights the evolution of the Dogg.”

Prior to “Swivel,” Snoop dropped the K Camp-assisted “Trash Bags” and “Mount Kushmore” with Redman, Method Man, and Cypress Hill’s B-Real.

Neva Left is due Friday (May 19).
