Pharrell & Miley Cyrus Perform 'Happy' at 'One Love Manchester'

The star-studded “One Love Manchester” benefit show allowed Ariana Grande to perform alongside some of her famous friends, but it also allowed others to collaborate in unexpected ways.

Such was the case with Pharrell Williams and Miley Cyrus, who spread some sunshine with their rendition of “Happy.” Backed by a team of dancers, the “Come Get It Bae” duo carried out the optimistic anthem as a duet.

“MANCHESTER you are an inspiration,” Pharrell tweeted after his set. “Thx @arianagrande for bringing the world together last night. #onelovemanchester.”

During her set, Miley also celebrated Manchester’s strength and beauty. “I am here for all of you,” she said. “I’ve played here a bunch of times. I have always loved Manchester and not just today. It’s always felt like a home away from home for me. I’m happy to be back.”

Another standout from her set was “Inspired,” a new song that is set to appear on her upcoming album. “This song, I would like to dedicate to all of you amazing people here,” she said, “all the people that have been affected by this tragic event. Everyone getting back on their feet, I am so proud of you.”

One star who couldn’t make it to the event was Usher. Although he was originally billed as a performer, the R&B superstar stayed back home to handle some family business.

“So happy to see that last night’s concert in Manchester proved that love always prevails,” he wrote. “I would have loved to be there but It was my son’s first day at Camp Kudzu, one of the few summer camps for kids living with diabetes. This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father. Stay strong UK.”

In a separate video, Usher also sent “heartfelt condolences” to the victims in Manchester. He called for love and unity and added: “My heart is with you…I’m so sorry for all of your loss and the pain that you’ve gone through.”

Nevertheless, “One Love Manchester” went on with stars like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Liam Gallagher, and The Black Eyed Peas, among others. In all, the event reportedly generated more than $9 million for the victims of the terror attack that took place at Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman World Tour” stop in Manchester last month.
