Drake Makes Surprise Performance at Canada Day

  /  07.03.2017

Drake surprised his hometown crowd on Sunday (July 2), when he joined the Canada Day festivities, celebrating the country’s 150th anniversary.

Before he launched into his set at Nathan Phillips Square, Drizzy acknowledged Canada’s history, shouting out its indigenous population and immigrants.

“When we celebrate Canada, we celebrate all of these individuals from all places that came here and found solitude in this beautiful country,” he said. “We celebrate our indigenous people. We celebrate the land that we’re standing on tonight. I just came for the party though, I’m not gonna lie.”

Following his speech, the 6 God jumped around the stage while performing “Jumpman.” Other fan-shot videos find him performing “Fake Love” with the crowd singing along. After his performance, he stuck around for the fireworks celebration.

Fans who missed the set will get a chance to catch Drizzy in concert next month at the 8th Annual OVO Fest, which is set to take place Aug. 7 at the Budweiser Stage in T. Dot.
