Video: Quality Control feat. Quavo & Lil Yachty - 'Ice Tray'

  /  12.19.2017

Migos’ ice cold beef with Joe Budden has inspired a music video. A week after teasing the Lil Yachty-assisted clip, Quality Control unleashes the visual for “Ice Tray,” which mocks the Slaughterhouse MC.

Directed by Millicent Hailes and co-directed by Quavo, the icy clip starts with a recreation of Complex’s “Everyday Struggle” as “Old Rappers Struggling,” complete with a Jumpoff Joe Beezy impersonator.

“They not about the culture,” says an agitated Budden in the opening scene, which finds him throwing his hat. “They making hundreds of thousands at shows. Million dollars in endorsements. Look at their jewelry. I ain’t had jewelry like that. Come on!”

Rocking fur, sunglasses, leather jackets, and diamonds, Quavo, Offset, Takeoff, and Lil Boat seem unbothered by the disses. “If a ni**a hatin’, call him Joe Budden,” raps Q, referencing the rapper’s heated interviews with the Quality Control camp.

It’s not all about Joe Budden. In fact, there’s an additional vignette, where Blue Glacier Huncho visits his dentist, played by renowned jeweler TV Johnny. But it circles back to the “retired” rapper in the end, showing a frustrated and frozen Budden, shivering in contempt.

“Ice Tray” is a DJ Durel-produced single off Quality Control’s Control the Streets, Vol. 1 compilation, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The song itself only features Quavo and Lil Yachty, but the video includes all three members of the Migos. The rest of the album includes Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Gucci Mane, and many more.
