Tinashe Joins Cast of Fox's Live Musical 'Rent'
Tinashe is joining the cast of “Rent.”
The R&B singer has been cast as Mimi Marquez in Fox’s live version of the musical. According to Variety, she will play a dancer who struggles with addiction and catches the eye of musician and recovering addict Roger (Brennin Hunt).
Tinashe recently appeared on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” where she was eliminated during her fourth week.

R&B crooner Mario, who currently stars on Fox’s “Empire,” will play Benjamin Coffin III, Mimi’s ex who has married wealthy and now wants to gentrify the building where he previously lived.
The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens as Maureen Johnson, a performance artist and Mark’s ex-girlfriend. Kiersey Clemons (“Hearts Beat Loud”) is set to play Ivy League-educated lawyer Joanne Jefferson, while Jordan Fisher (“Hamilton”) will play Mark, Roger’s filmmaker roommate and best friend.
“Rent” will be broadcast live from Fox Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019.
