Nas Says Kelis Wants to Take Son to Colombia
Nas and Kelis’ custody battle continues.
The rapper now says that his ex-wife is moving to Colombia to become a farmer, and she’s taking their son with her. According to TMZ, Kelis already took 9-year-old Knight to Colombia last month and intends to stay there.
The former couple’s custody battle has been well documented. Nas was reportedly supposed to get their son on New Year’s Eve, but Kelis bailed via text. According to Nas, Kelis has withdrawn Knight from his private school in Los Angeles and is currently homeschooling him in Colombia.
Nas says the move to Colombia is a violation of their custody agreement, because Kelis didn’t provide the required travel notice. Furthermore, Nas says he didn’t get Knight on holidays including Father’s Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving, even though Knight is supposed to spend even-numbered years with his father.
Nas is asking a judge to find Kelis in contempt for her multiple violations of their agreement.
Kelis and her new husband have been spending time in Colombia, where they are opening a sustainable farm called Bounty Farms in La Soledad, and have been documenting the process on Instagram.
In September, Nas penned an open letter to Kelis after she accused him of mentally and physically abusing her during their six-year marriage. “After all the tweets and posts you made thru the years disrespecting me and my family I still have love for you as the mother of my child BUT I am done with this,” he said. “This game ends now and GOD will be the judger of all this.”
