6ix9ine Responds After Charity Rejects His $200,000 Donation

  /  05.12.2020

No good deed goes unpunished, at least when it comes to 6ix9ine.

The rapper thought he was doing the right thing when he announced plans to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from his blockbuster single “Gooba” to charity. According to TMZ, Tekashi made around $2 million in less than a week off the success of “Gooba,” including a line of merch.

His $200,000 donation would have benefitted No Kid Hungry, a non-profit which works to ensure the end of child hunger, which has become worse due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the non-profit has turned down his donation attempt. In a statement, No Kid Hungry thanked Tekashi, while explaining that his values don’t align with their mission.

“We are grateful for Mr. Hernandez’s generous offer to donate to No Kid Hungry but we have informed his representatives that we have declined this donation,” said the organization. “As a child-focused campaign, it is our policy to decline funding from donors whose activities do not align with our mission and values.”

Tekashi was not happy to hear that his generous donation was rejected, and took to Instagram to put No Kid Hungry on blast. “@nokidhungry rather take food out the mouth of these innocent children I never seen something so cruel,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.

Despite the controversy surrounding his case, 6ix9ine continues to thrive. His comeback video for “Gooba” has been viewed over 120 million times on YouTube since its release on Friday, which should put him in the running for next week’s top spot.

“DONT LET THEM CHEAT US OUT THE NUMBER 1 LOOK AT THE NUMBERS ! WE BEATING EVERYONE AND THEY MOTHER ON EVERYTHING !” said Tekashi, who shared a screenshot of his YouTube views alongside Drake’s “Toosie Slide.” “They hate to see this shoutout to drake he’s the goat but this has to be seen.”
