Tory Lanez Criticizes Today's Music, Says Its 'Repetitive and Redundant'

  /  10.23.2021

Tory Lanez is sounding off on the state of music.

Taking to Twitter, the Canadian rapper-singer criticized the quality and impact of today’s artists, while lamenting that “real music” is missing.

“It’s crazy ….. music hasn’t ACTUALLY BEEN STICKING lately ….like all of our favorite artist music is not lasting with us longer than 4-5 months,” he wrote.

According to Tory, there is no more originality. “Real music must come back into play .. real emotion . Less repetitive and redundant,” he added.

Tory’s comments come as he gears up to release his ’80s-inspired album Alone at Prom on Dec. 1. In August, he released his first-ever streaming NFT album When It’s Dark, which he claims sold 1 million copies in under a minute.

He is not the only one weighing in on today’s music. Eve recently shared her thoughts on hip-hop, saying “there’s a lot of clones.”

“I feel like back in the day, uniqueness was celebrated and I think now there’s a lot of the sameness and that to me… It makes it boring a lot of the time,” she told Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show.”
