Future to Perform at MTV Video Music Awards
Future is about to make it Reign at the MTV VMAs.
In the midst of his “Summer Sixteen Tour” with Drake, the Purple Reign rapper will hit the stage for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards at New York’s Madison Square Garden this weekend.
MTV made the announcement with a Tom Gould-created video featuring Future’s thoughts on creativity.

“My creativity comes from me being in the studio, and from my past situations,” says Future in the clip. “It’s about mastering a tone for me, mastering a melody, mastering a style. It’s about becoming one with the beat. It’s about taking the beat places that the beat never thought it could go. My music is a diary. It carries volumes.”
He joins a star-studded list of previously-announced performers including Britney Spears with G-Eazy and Nick Jonas featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
Rihanna will also take the stage to perform and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The VMAs air live on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
