SZA Drops Solange-Directed Video for 'The Weekend'

SZA and Solange connect.

Following months of teasers, the TDE songstress finally unleashes the Solange-directed video for her celebrated Ctrl anthem, “The Weekend.”

The dance-centric visual starts with a poem that reads: “one opted out. an imbalance of power, shifted the whole tide. it waved.” Eventually, the poem can be found at the end of the clip, as well, bookending the whole thing.

But in between the poetic lines, a large majority of the video finds SZA dancing. First, she does so hidden in an architectural wonder, dancing while the wind blows her hair back. Then, the interpretive dancing continues through various scenes, including a parking lot backdrop and an art studio.

“The Weekend” has become quite the breakaway hit, going platinum and earning a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance. It has also been remixed by an array of stars, including Miguel, Maino, and K Camp.
