Court Clerk Fired for Asking Meek Mill for Money During Trial

  /  01.30.2018

Meek Mill’s legal saga continues to unfold. While the Philadelphia rapper serves 2-4 years in prison for probation violation, there are new developments in the case.

After requesting a donation from Meek during his probation hearings, a court clerk has been fired, TMZ reports. Court officials say the woman, Wanda Chavarria, crossed the line when she slipped Mill a note asking for money for her son’s tuition.

Chavarria claims Judge Genece Brinkley did not know about her request. However, Meek’s legal team claims she verbally asked for the donation within “earshot” of the judge. It is unclear whether the court clerk’s firing will result in a review of Meek’s sentencing.

There is also another update regarding alleged improper requests in the case. Meek’s legal team previously accused Judge Brinkley of pushing the rapper to fire Roc Nation in favor of local manager Charlie Mack. Now, a transcript of the hearing proves that Judge Brinkley did not try to sway Meek’s management choices, according to TMZ. “I don’t want the record to suggest who your management is or is not,” Judge Brinkley said.

However, the transcript notes that Meek’s probation officer was trying to get the Philadelphia MC to sign with Charlie Mack, who managed him earlier in his career. “What I like about Charlie, he is not invested in Meek Mills,” said the probation officer. “He is invested in Robert Williams [Meek’s given name].”

Meek is currently behind bars, but he is also giving back. Yesterday, athlete-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick revealed that the incarcerated MC donated $10,000 to Youth Services, Inc., an organization that works with families, at-risk teens, and children.
