Drake Has Obama's 'Stamp of Approval' to Play Him in a Movie

Barack Obama is giving Drake his stamp of approval to play him in a movie.

In a conversation with Complex’s “360 with Speedy Morman,” the former President was asked about comments Drake once made about playing him in a biopic and how he would feel about Drizzy taking on the role.

“I will say this–Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,” Obama said. “I mean, that is a talented brother. If the time comes, and he’s ready… Drake has–more importantly–my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”

Drake previously shared his interest in playing Obama in a film about the President’s life. “I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” he said in a 2010 interview with Paper magazine. “That’s the goal. I watch all the addresses. Any time I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions.”

Obama has shown love to Drake in the past. In January, Drake revealed a thank you letter letter that he received from the POTUS and First Lady Michelle Obama after he wished their daughter Sasha for her 16th birthday.

Elsewhere, Obama addressed the controversial comments he made about hip-hop in a recent interview. “I have to remind myself that if you listen to rap music, it’s all about the bling, the women, the money,” he told The Atlantic. “A lot of rap videos are using the same measures of what it means to be successful as Donald Trump is. Everything is gold-plated. That insinuates itself and seeps into the culture.”

Obama clarified his comments, while defending his embrace of hip-hop. “Look, you do enough interviews, there’s gonna be a slip somewhere in terms of broad characterizations,” he said. “I think people need to look across the board [about] what I’ve said with respect to not just my admiration for any particular artist, but my embrace of hip-hop culture that I brought into the White House in a way that was unprecedented.”
