Pop’s first lady is praising the First Lady of the United States. Beyoncé pens a handwritten letter to Michelle Obama on her new website, calling her the “ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American woman” and pointing out her admirable qualities. “I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to,” writes Blue Ivy’s mother. thanks goodness you mentioned that grammatical mistake she made. I read that letter when she first posted it and I had to do a double take when I noticed a whole lot of people were making comments about how she spelled what was suppose to be “woman” in that sentence as “womEn.”

I believe only a few hundred Bey fans got to see this first version of this letter.

I do gotta give her P.R. props for wiping out any trace of the first draft from the interwebs along with all the comments about it.

I say she should’ve been like “f*ck it! I’m only human I make mistakes… so what!” -or- If they corrected the spelling error, they might as well have corrected the other mistakes like the unnecessary commas and writing out the word “you.”

But let it be known: Beyonce did in fact write “..is the ultimate example of a truly strong African American women.” I hope someone out there happened to save it and will post it up soon.

Just wanted to add: I’m not hating on her. Just didn’t think it was a big deal until she (or rather, her PR team) actually took the time to photoshop the letter “a” where the “e” was originally. Now I think it is a big deal because she made it so. Still love her, but I have to say… I’m a little disappointed in my Idol, Beyonce, BUT AFTER ALL… everyone makes mistakes. No biggie.

Since this thread is regarding the letter Beyonce wrote to Michelle Obama, it is only right I say what I have to say about it. Yes, I am disappointed she didn’t take the time to make sure her letter was perfect because the way I know Bey, she is a perfectionist. I happen to love to read and write and grammatical errors bug me. Yet! I make them too…like I said, everyone makes mistakes.

Wouldn’t it be idiotic and pointless for me to list other things I am disappointed with in my life to prove to you that I have my priorities straight on a thread about Beyonce. I don’t know why it happens so often but it’s one of the most commonly misspelled words I’ve seen online. But if it was changed then I agree that her PR staff are on their game. Just to put this one to sleep… I have found two blogs that have the original first version Beyonce posted on to facebook and her website before her PR team noticed all the attention people on facebook were giving the misspelling of the word “woman” in that particular sentence addressed to Michelle. For some reason, my post with the links always get deleted. So try googling “Beyonce writes letter to Michelle Obama first version” and look for GLOBALGRIND or RNBMUSICBLOG.

Also, this is what I find particularly annoying and embarassing about this letter are the following:

1. She starts the letter of addressing Michelle and then talks about her to her. In the last part, she addresses Michelle again and this time talks directly too hear. Kind of funny if you read it aloud as if it were a letter to you

2. The fact she didn’t know OR forgot the proper uses and differences of the word WOMAN or WOMEN in different sentences. Coming from a WOMAN who empowers WOMEN all over the world… it just drives me bonkers! ALL THE WOMeN WHO INDEPENEDENT, throw your hands up at me!

3. “She is a caring mother, she’s a loving wife, while at the same time, she is the first lady!!!!” –What can I say, this whole sentence just screams 2nd grader! And don’t get started on all those unnecessary exclamation marks!

4. Was this suppose to be a letter to Michelle Obama or a speech about her… ? I really don’t know. The way it was written was not the way the Beyonce I know would have executed it. It was half-assed. I can get behind the meaning of the letter, but not the way it was presented…grammatical errors and all.

Stopping at the number 4 because, after all, it is her favorite number. Love ya Bey!

Got three quarters down this page & was laughing that much had to post a comment – have you any idea how dumb most of you look???? You are having arguments about a minor spelling mistake & the majority of you can’t either spell or present correct grammar – I am from the UK where we speak English – you Americans supposedly speak English too —- LOL —- my 6 year old nephew is better at English than the lot of you. I am pretty sure Michelle or Beyonce couldn’t careless if it is grammatically written properly. What is behind the meaning of this letter is what matters most.
Before you all start pointing out her puntuations,spelling or grammar mistakes, I consider you check yourself first and judge if you’re an expert or flawless at writting and never made a spelling, puntuations,grammar mistake in your life. Just by reading half of these comments I can already ditect writing errors. Before you all too star commenting on my writing mistakes take in mind I couldn’t careless.
