After her breakout single “212” and EP 1991, Azealia Banks dives deeper on her highly-anticipated mixtape Fantasea. The 19 free tracks include 15 originals and three remixes, with appearances from Styles P (“Nathan”) and British rapper Shystie (“Neptune”).

“Fantasea is almost kind of a first album of sorts….but it happened by mistake…. It’s weird,” explained the Harlem rapper of the prequel to her Interscope Records debut Broke with Expensive Taste. “This is a test run… I tried a lot of cool things… Sounds I thought were progressive, beats made by close friends, different flowsss.”

I love how Nicki’s stans always love to bring up the old mitape Nicki and how great she was. Funny thing is that mixtape Nicki stole Lil’ Kim’s lyrics, swag, and etc. She was redoing old Lil’ Kim songs. That’s why she sounded as decent as she did. She’s been exposed now that she is not blatantly stealing that much from Kim anymore. Azealia will eat Nicki up on the mic, and her music is so much better. I don’t even know why people compare them. Azealia’s sound is what Nicki is trying to accomplish. Nicki sounds pop when she does pop tracks, yet Azealia does ballroom/dance/house/rave type stuff and is still able to bring Hip Hop to the track without watering down her lyrics and sounding like a third grader like Nicki does. And forgive me, but to be the Queen of Hip Hop, Nicki actually needs to be doing Hip Hop, which she does not do. She was never queen anyway. She’s probably by far the weakest lyricist of all the female emcees that have done it big, and her albums have been trash compared tot theirs. But its okay barbs, Azealia got this. She’s young, fresh, and is about to show yal how it’s really suppose to be done. You can choose a 40 year old airhead still calling herself a barbie, or a fresh 21 year old who is innovative and has yet to drop a song that is just utter garbage.
