Video: Kendrick Lamar – ‘Backseat Freestyle’

Backseat Freestyle

Kendrick Lamar starts the new year with a bang by dropping the video for the Hit-Boy-produced “Backseat Freestyle” off his critically-acclaimed debut good kid, m.A.A.d city.

2012′s breakout star takes us on a journey from his Compton backyard to international fame, rapping in front of the Eiffel Tower. He paints a picture of his childhood with appearances from his “high as f**k” father and an ass-shaking Sherane.

Buckle up for the wild ride.

    @yo, REALLY?? wtf is that WOMAN doing on the car. Just when I thought kendrick may have been of a different ilk than his contemporaries, he proves me wrong.

    damn shame

    @Pinkprint,
    He is, if you’d listened to the album you’d know this song takes place when he is a young kid free styling in his friends car. It’s meant to show us how immature he was at the time, and not to be taken sarcastically. Listen to the album yourself, you’ll understand.

    I hate when people so quick to judge before knowing the background/concept of an artist or song

    @Ya Fav 1ne, @me if you got shit to say hoe. I really hate when people start shit that they can’t finish. I am too grown, ain’t got any time for watching videos of hoes.

    @Voice of reason, The album is amazing. One of my favorites so far. However, when I heard it I fell in love with the idea that the basis of his lyrics wern’t talking about pu$$y or cars from start to finish… this video kind of gave me a let down because he could have approached it in a completely different way. I get what you mean about him showing his past side, but he’s an extremely artistic/innovative guy. He could have done waaaay better.
