Behind the Video: Tyga f/ Justin Bieber – ‘Wait for a Minute’

Tyga and Justin Bieber

Tyga is freezing time with Justin Bieber in the Matrix-inspired video for their collaboration “Wait for a Minute.” MTV News caught up with the Young Money rapper on set of the green-screen clip in Long Beach, Calif. this week.

The Maejor Ali-produced song was originally recorded for Bieber, but will now serve as the first single off Tyga’s upcoming album The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty.

“He’s in this transition period,” said Tyga of his collaborator. “I felt like when me and Chris [Brown] did ‘Deuces,’ it was like a moment. I feel like this would be a big moment for both of us with this song.”

He explained the concept behind the special effects visuals. “It’s real Matrix. We got some of the guys that do CGI for some of the big movies,” said Tyga. “We’re freezing time and switching different worlds trying to get away from certain things—the negative that comes with the lifestyle.”
