Behind the Video: Common - 'Celebrate'

  /  12.16.2011

Common

Common parties into the new year in the Phil the God-directed video for “Celebrate,” the No I.D.-produced single from his new album The Dreamer/The Believer. The Chi-town lyricist pops champagne with his famous friends including Tyga and Ludacris at a house party, looking dapper in a tux as he holds up his Grammy.

“It’s a song about just having a good time, enjoying life,” explained Common. “When No I.D. made that beat, I was like, ‘Yeah, we about to snap on this. I’m about to get it, kick it, and have fun.’ I wrote it around New Years, so I was in that celebratory mode.”
