New Music: Flying Lotus feat. Kendrick Lamar - 'Eyes Above'

  /  04.10.2015

Kendrick Lamar guests on “Never Catch Me” off Flying Lotus’ album You’re Dead!, but they also recorded a second collaboration called “Eyes Above,” which Lotus has been playing at his live shows. Now Lotus has liberated the full minute-long version via his BBC Radio 1 show.

“There’s actually another track that he did on this album that I had to take off for political reasons, but it was a really cool thing,” he told Pitchfork last year. “He came to the house and laid it down and killed it. He didn’t come with no entourage or nothing. It was real special to me.”

Over Lotus’ melodic production, the Compton rapper fires off some rapid-fire rhymes: “Buffalo soldiers at war / You shot fast, but that ain’t the final score.”
