Listen to Jay Z's Unreleased Song 'The Black Gangster'

Another Jay Z song has been unearthed from the vault. Following his 1999 freestyle for Tim Westwood, DJ Absolut liberates a previously unreleased version of Jay Z’s “The Black Gangster” as part of his ongoing Mixtape Mondays series.

According to XXL, the song is also known as “This Life Forever” and was featured on the 1999 Black Gangster soundtrack and Jay Z’s 2003 mixtape S. Carter Collection. A version of “The Black Gangster” originally appeared on a 1997 Roc-A-Fella promotional tape released prior to Jay Z’s second album In My Lifetime, Vol. 1.

“My lyrics is like the Bible, made to save lives,” raps a younger Hov. “In the midst of all your misery, ni**a, I can stay fly.”

This will have to hold you over until the next Jay Z project. There have been unfounded reports of a duets album with Beyoncé, and Jay Electronica hinted that the Roc Nation boss has new music in the works.
