J. Cole's '4 Your Eyez Only' Goes Gold

  /  01.12.2017

J. Cole has earned another plaque for his wall, and once again, he’s done it with no features.

The Recording Industry Association of America has awarded gold certification to the North Carolina rapper’s fourth album 4 Your Eyez Only.

An album is certified gold by the RIAA after it moves 500,000 units. Released in December, Cole’s latest album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 492,000 copies in its first week.

The LP also stands out as “the only 2016 4th quarter hip-hop album release to earn @RIAA certification,” according to an RIAA tweet.

Cole World is bringing Eyez to radio. According to Hip Hop-N-More, he is pushing “Deja Vu” as the album’s first single. The track raised eyebrows upon its release due to the fact that it shares the same beat as Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange.”

Prior to this, Hollywood Cole’s last album 2014 Forest Hills Drive famously went double platinum with no features, a feat that eventually became a popular meme.

The Roc Nation MC has more plaques, of course. Though each had features, Cole World: The Sideline Story and Born Sinner have both been certified platinum too.
