YG Donates $150,000 to Girl Code LA

  /  08.02.2018

YG is sharing his “Big Bank” account with others.

On Wednesday (Aug. 1), the Compton rapper presented a $150,000 check to Girl Code LA, a Los Angeles-based organization that exposes young women to computer science, business, and software engineering.

The donation was inspired by his own young daughter. “I’m practicing on how to be a good dad right now,” said the Compton rapper. “This is for the G Code, for the young ladies out there.”

He also gifted the young coders with Beats by Dre headphones and spoke with them about exploring non-traditional career paths.

“With my donation, I hope they’ll be able to expand their reach of future female coders and programmers,” YG told TMZ. “I want to make sure I’m doing my part. I got a daughter and I respect the G Code.”

YG is set to release his new album Stay Dangerous on Friday (Aug. 3) featuring the hit single “Big Bank” featuring Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, and 2 Chainz.
