J. Cole is gearing up to release his new album The Fall Off next year. He made the official announcement by launching a presidential-style campaign during his headlining performance at the Day N Vegas festival in Las Vegas on Friday (Nov. 1).

The Dreamville rapper opened his set with a campaign video touting his résumé including a “pen so potent, each word of his verses reportedly costs $2000.”

The clip, which was soundtracked by a presidential score, also included footage of Cole’s 2018 interview with Lil Pump. “We need someone with big ideas and bold solutions,” said the narrator. “Taking out the garbage, an expert in diplomacy, a candidate who can heal the intergenerational war.”

The video ended with a pitch: “There’s only one answer, one true unifier to our country. Make your votes heard and vote for The Fall Off in 2020.”

Cole then took the stage to “Middle Child” while fans held up signs that read “The Fall Off 2020” and members of his band wore hoodies with the campaign slogan. He performed old and new hits including “Count It Up,” “Power Trip,” and “Nobody’s Perfect,” and brought out his Dreamville crew for their Revenge of the Dreamers III collaborations. DaBaby also surprised the crowd with “Under the Sun” and his own hit “Suge.”

“Y’all give it up for the hottest rapper in the motherfu**ing country,” said Cole of his fellow North Carolina MC.

The Fall Off marks Cole’s sixth album, the follow-up to last year’s KOD, which was first teased on the KOD closer “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’).” He was reportedly working on the project prior to KOD, along with an album as his alter-ego, kiLL edward.
