Nipsey Hussle Murder Trial Rescheduled

  /  05.07.2020

The man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle, Eric Holder, won’t be going to trial until the summer.

The high-profile murder case was expected to begin in March, but it has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected court scheduling. According to jail records obtained by Vibe, Holder’s next court date is now slated for June 8.

L.A. County Clerk offices and courthouses have been closed since March 23 due to the governor’s stay-at-home order. Court cases are expected to resume when California’s shelter-in-place order is lifted at the end of May.

Holder has remained in jail since his arrest in connection to Nipsey’s murder in April 2019. He has plead not guilty to six charges including murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The 33-year-old rapper, born Ermias Asghedom, was shot at least 10 times in the March 31 attack outside his Marathon Clothing store before being taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Holder allegedly kicked him in the head before fleeing the scene.

Holder’s bail was set at $6.53 million. Attorney Christopher Darden, a former city prosecutor from the O.J. Simpson murder trial, withdrew from the case following death threats to him and his family.

If convicted of all charges, Holder could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
