Travis Scott, Drake Hit with $750 Million Astroworld Lawsuit

Travis Scott has been named in a $750 million lawsuit filed on behalf of 125 Astroworld victims, including Axel Acosta, who was killed at the Nov. 5 festival in Houston.

The suit, filed by Buzbee Law Firm in Houston Civil Court on Tuesday, seeks damages for loss of mental and physical health and loss of human life, and lists Live Nation, Apple, Epic Records, and the Harris County Sports and Convention Corp. as defendants.

Drake, who joined Travis on stage as a special guest during his set, is also named in the suit.

“The victims on that night went to Astroworld for fun,” the suit said. “Neither they nor their families were ever warned that they were walking into an extremely dangerous situation.”

According to the suit, 21-year-old Acosta “was crushed by the incited, unruly and out-of-control crowd with such force that he could no longer breathe” and went into cardiac arrest.

“When Axel collapsed, he was trampled by those fighting to prevent themselves from being crushed,” states attorney Tony Buzbee. “As he lay there under a mass of humanity, dying, the music played and streamed on — for almost forty minutes.”

Buzbee writes that while the $750 million judgment is justified, “No amount of money will ever make these Plaintiffs whole; no amount of money can restore human life.”

The suit also cites Scott’s history of inciting rowdiness during his shows and includes screenshots of his social media posts throughout the years in which he shows bloodied and passed-out fans, reports Fox Business.

Buzbee says his law firm also “intends to file another lawsuit in the coming days with another 100 named plaintiffs.”

At least 140 lawsuits have been filed in the wake of the tragedy, which left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. On Sunday, 9-year-old Ezra Blount died from injuries sustained after he was trampled at the festival.
