The Marshall Mathers LP 2

While Eminem was blazing up the charts with his new album, his childhood home was going up in flames. The house that is pictured on the cover of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was badly burned in a fire on Thursday.

According to TMZ, the 767-square-foot, two-story bungalow, which is located on Dresden St. near 8 Mile in Detroit, sustained damage to the second floor. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze before it spread to the rest of the house.

The fire began around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. It’s unclear how it was started.

Public records show the home was bought by Em’s mother, Deborah Mathers, in 1987 for $19,900. It was eventually abandoned and is currently for sale by the bank after failing to sell for $500 at a recent auction.

The boarded-up bungalow was also featured on the cover of Em’s 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP.
