Justin Bieber Closes AMAs with Medley

  /  11.22.2015

Fresh off scoring his fifth No. 1 album Purpose, Justin Bieber closed the American Music Awards with a splashy medley of hits.

Flanked by an acoustic guitarist, the Biebs, dressed in a cap, hoodie, and ripped jeans, gave a stripped-down rendition of his No. 1 hit “What Do You Mean?,” quickly transitioning into “Where Are Ü Now” where he was joined by a gang of backup dancers who hit the song’s breakdown in tandem.

Bieber capped the performance by stepping into a portion of the stage showered in raindrops, running through his smash “Sorry” as his ensemble splashed up water around him, and ending by taking off his cap to shake out his blonde hair. He appeared to speak into the mic, but his audio was off.

Earlier in the evening, he picked up the award for Collaboration of the Year for “Where Are Ü Now,” which he shared with Diplo and Skrillex.

Bieber’s comeback album, Purpose, beat out One Direction for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, selling 649,000 total units in its first week and giving it the highest opening frame of 2015—that is, until next week, when Adele’s 25 is expected to sell a record-shattering amount of units.
