Diddy Wants to Buy Carolina Panthers

Is Diddy about to make another power move?

ForbesHighest-Paid Hip-Hop Artist has announced his proposal to acquire the Carolina Panthers.

“I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!” the Bad Boy mogul told his 13.9 million followers. “There are no majority African American NFL owners. Let’s make history.”

Shortly after sending the tweet, NBA star Steph Curry expressed his interest in joining Diddy’s NFL bid. “I want in!” he tweeted, to which Puff replied, “Holla at me, let’s get it!”

The acquisition talks also caught the attention of Colin Kaepernick, who has been without a job in the NFL since his national anthem demonstrations.

“I want in on the ownership group! Let’s make it happen!” said the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

Over the weekend, the Panthers announced that owner Jerry Richardson was ready to “turn the franchise over to new ownership” after being embroiled in an NFL investigation for alleged workplace misconduct.

In 2013, Diddy outlined his goal to become the NFL’s first African-American majority owner. “I love sports, but I’m more of a owner type of guy, so I have aspirations to become — which it will happen — I will become the first African-American majority owner,” he told Bloomberg. “Not having a small stake but actually owning an NFL team. I think it’s time for that. A majority of players that are in the NFL are African-American, but there are no African-American owners. So that’s one of my dreams.”
