6ix9ine Scores Legal Victory in Federal Case

6ix9ine has caught a break in his federal racketeering case.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a New York judge has allowed the rapper’s former attorney, Lance Lazarro, to once again represent him.

Lazarro was taken off the criminal case due to a potential conflict of interest because he previously represented Tekashi’s former associates, Shotti (Kifano Jordan) and Crippy (Faheem Walter), who are co-defendants in the case. There was concern Lazarro gained “intimate knowledge” of their dealings and was aware of “privileged communications” that could be used in 6ix9ine’s defense.

In his affidavit, Lazarro explained to the court that he believes there was no overlapping or questionable activity. He also noted that since Tekashi has already pleaded guilty, he will not have to cross-examine Shotti or Crippy.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge ruled that there is no risk to the other co-defendants if Lazarro continues representing 6ix9ine.

He can return as lead attorney for the rapper, as soon as the Tekashi signs off on it. A hearing is scheduled for March 28 where he will tell the judge of his decision.

Last month, 6ix9ine struck a deal in his criminal case, pleading guilty to nine counts of racketeering, conspiracy, firearms offenses, and narcotics trafficking. He remains behind bars and is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24, 2020.
