Seven years after making her debut with “Pon de Replay,” Rihanna continues to be an unstoppable force in music. With 11 No. 1 singles under her belt, the 24-year-old pop princess shines once again on “Diamonds,” the first single off her upcoming seventh album. Produced by Stargate and Benny Blanco, the dramatic tune boasts soaring vocals and an undeniable hook.

“You’re not sad or dancing. You’re happy and hippie. It’s laid-back, but it’s hopeful,” Rihanna told Elvis Duran. “It gives me such a great feeling when I listen to it. The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love and the gears are a little different from what people would expect. I’m excited to surprise them sonically.”

Aussie songwriter Sia penned the lyrics, which reference various drugs. “Palms rise to the universe/ As we, moonshine and molly/ Feel the warmth, we’ll never die/ We’re like diamonds in the sky,” sings the Bajan babe, who will launch her “Diamonds World Tour” in March.

i think this is a great song for HER. i give it a solid 8. her instrument is not the strongest, but i actually hear the vocal improvement in this track, especially in the runs at the end.

also, i’m glad she’s working with sia, perhaps it will help her grow as an artist.

will it go to #1 across the globe, i highly doubt it…maybe somewhere in some random european country, and in barbados, of course.

I am not a fan of this at all. I can tell she is taking what the critics said, by creating more serious music, but to me it seems like it is awkward for her and it doesn’t fit. I do not feel it is #1 worthy, but I do not feel like two or three of her other #1′s are either. However! At the end of this song, she gives me better vocals than she normal would in a song. She IS from Barbados. She HAS a natural accent. Everyone that’s asking what accent or think it’s a fake accent, probably never heard her talk.
Most of the Caribbean have a British background to their accents/culture, because most of them were under the British rule once upon a time.
I like this song, it’s different, it sounds different, has a different feel. I had to get playing it before I really started to appreciate it fully though.

If Rhianna has any talent it is NOT evident in this song. This kind of thing happens to celebrities quite often. They live in a bubble where everyone tells them constantly how great they are and there are no genuine friends around to tell them the truth about anything. This song will go down on my list of Top 10 Most Annoying Songs EVER. The sad thing is that I usually kind find something likable about just about everything I hear. Not this.
