Video: Playboi Carti - 'Magnolia'
Still buzzing off the success of “Magnolia,” Playboi Carti milly rocks in New York in the video for his hit single.
The clip is a psychedelic trip through the Empire State with dizzying visual effects. It features a representation of Young Carti’s lyrics, as people milly rock around him, hide objects in their socks, and they shoot at opps.
From street corners and barbershops to nightclubs and back, the video takes on different settings with a star-studded cast of guests, including A$AP Rocky and NAV. In the end, Carti shoots a man and takes off in a getaway ride with his mentor Flacko before getting back into the car with a lady friend.
Released as part of his self-titled project this year, “Magnolia” peaked at No. 29 on the Hot 100 and helped the Atlanta rapper land a spot in the 2017 XXL Freshman Class.
Carti’s recent success has also been marred by legal woes. Last week, he was arrested on a domestic battery charge after an alleged airport confrontation with a young woman. He was released on $20,000 bail the following day.
